Men’s Basketball Players of the Week – November 17

IRVINE, Calif. – This week’s PacWest Men’s Basketball Players of the Week are Azusa Pacific’s Troy Leaf and Petar Kutlesic, Academy of Art’s Alexis Moore and Point Loma’s Hayden Lescault. The awards are based on games played Nov. 10-16.
 
Co-Player of the Week – Troy Leaf (Azusa Pacific)
G, Sr., San Diego, Calif./Foothills Christian
 
Leaf continued his high-scoring ways from APU’s two Division I exhibition games into the regular season, averaging 23.5 points per game over the weekend. He scored 27 points, on 11-of-15 shooting, and dished out five assists in the season-opening win over Cal State San Bernardino. He then logged a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds, as well as six assists, in an overtime loss to No. 8 Cal Poly Pomona.
 
Co-Player of the Week – Alexis Moore (Academy of Art)
G, Sr., Long Beach, Calif./Long Beach Poly
 
Moore was the definition of consistency in ART U’s first two games, scoring 18 points on 6-of-16 shooting in each. He added six rebounds, five assists and two steals in the Urban Knights’ upset win at No. 22 Seattle Pacific in the season opener.
 
Defender of the Week – Hayden Lescault (Point Loma)
G, Sr., Folsom, Calif./Vista Del Lago
 
Lescault helped Point Loma to a season-opening win over Western Oregon in the GNAC/PacWest Challenge in San Diego. The Preseason All-PacWest pick recorded six steals, as the Sea Lions forced 17 Western Oregon turnovers. He also handed out seven assists.
 
Freshman of the Week – Petar Kutlesic (Azusa Pacific)
F, Fr., Uzice, Serbia/Lee Academy
 
Kutlesic was a solid contributor off the bench in his collegiate debut, averaging 9.0 points and 6.0 rebounds per game for the Cougars. He just missed out on a double-double with nine points and nine rebounds against Cal State San Bernardino.
