Volleyball Players of the Week – November 17

IRVINE, Calif. – This week’s PacWest Volleyball Players of the Week are BYU-Hawaii’s Shih Ting Chen, Academy of Art’s Kanoe Irvine and Dominican’s Madison Marshall. The awards are based on matches played Nov. 10-16.
 
Player of the Week – Shih Ting Chen (BYU-Hawaii)
OH, Sr., Yunlin, Taiwan/Chung Shan
 
Chen averaged 5.17 kills and 4.33 digs per set as BYU-Hawaii won two matches to clinch its fifth-consecutive PacWest championship. She had 13 kills and 16 digs in her final home match against Hawai’i Pacific. She logged another double-double with 18 kills and 10 digs at Chaminade. Chen led the PacWest and ranks second in the country in kills per set (5.14).
 
Defender of the Week – Kanoe Irvine (Academy of Art)
L, Sr., Kailua, Hawaii/Kamehameha
 
Irvine averaged 6.38 digs per set in the final two matches for the Urban Knights. She had 13 digs at Dominican. She then set the Academy of Art single-match record with 38 digs in a four set win over Notre Dame de Namur, leading the Urban Knights to a school record 113 total digs. Irvine ranked seventh in the PacWest with a 4.62 digs per set average.
 
Freshman of the Week – Madison Marshall (Dominican)
MB, Fr., Lake Oswego, Ore./Lakeridge
 
Marshall stood tall in the final two matches of the season, averaging 1.86 blocks per set. She recorded a career-high 10 total blocks (2 solo, 8 assists) in a four-set win over Academy of Art, the highest single-match total in the PacWest this season.
