Men’s Basketball Players of the Week – November 24

IRVINE, Calif. – This week’s PacWest Men’s Basketball Players of the Week are Azusa Pacific’s Troy Leaf, Notre Dame de Namur’s Don Washington and Fresno Pacific’s Oliver Herting. The awards are based on games played Nov. 17-23.
 
Player of the Week – Troy Leaf (Azusa Pacific)
G, Sr., San Diego, Calif./Foothills Christian
 
Leaf backed up his first conference award with possibly an even better week, averaging 25.7 points and 5.0 rebounds per game in two APU wins. His shooting was off the charts, recording 58.5 percent from the field (24-41), 52.4 percent from three-point range (11-21) and 94.7 from the free throw line (18-19). He was the MVP of the Western Oregon/Doubletree by Hilton D2 Shootout, scoring 33 points on 10-of-15 shooting and eight free throws against the host school. He leads the PacWest in scoring (24.8 ppg) and three-pointers (19).
 
Defender of the Week – Don Washington (Notre Dame de Namur)

Washington put together his first double-double of the year with15 points and 12 rebounds, both season-bests, against Cal State Monterey Bay. He also blocked three shots and nine of his rebounds came on the defensive end.
 
Freshman of the Week – Oliver Herting (Fresno Pacific)
F, Fr., Gottingen, Germany/Liberty Christian
 
Herting logged the first double-double of his young career with career-highs of 18 points and 14 rebounds in FPU’s 52-point win over UC Merced. He shot 7-for-12 from the field, 4-for-4 from the free throw line and handed out two assists.
