Volleyball Weekly Awards – Oct. 5

IRVINE, Calif. – This week’s PacWest Volleyball Players of the Week are Bissie DenHartog (Fresno Pacific), Taylor Dennison (Concordia) and Stine Raben (Academy of Art). The awards are based on matches played Sept. 28-Oct. 4.
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Bissie DenHartog (Fresno Pacific)
S, Jr., Clovis, Calif./Buchanan
 
DenHartog contributed on both sides of the ball, averaging 11.33 assists and 3.7 digs per set. She had a double-double in both matches with 54 assists and 12 digs against NDNU, and 48 assists and a career-high 21 digs against Point Loma. She led the Sunbirds to a .224 hitting percentage in the match, including a .483 percentage in the decisive fourth set. She also had five kills and a service ace in the two matches.
 
DEFENDER OF THE WEEK
Taylor Dennison (Concordia)
L, Jr., Huntington Beach, Calif./Edison
 
Dennison earned her second weekly award, averaging 8.14 digs per set in two matches. She logged 45 digs in a four-set match at Dixie State, breaking the Concordia single-match record set in 1995 by one. Dennison leads the PacWest in digs per set (6.05).
 
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Stine Raben (Academy of Art)
OH, Fr., Schwerin, Germany/Sportgymnasium Schwerin
 
Raben earned her second weekly award with a balanced week of 4.00 kills and 2.5 digs per se, leading ART U to its first two conference wins. She had a career-high 18 kills in a sweep of Holy Names, and logged a double-double with 14 kills and a career-high 17 digs in a five-set win over NDNU. She leads all PacWest freshmen with 3.15 kills per set.
