IRVINE, Calif. – This week’s PacWest Women’s Basketball Players of the Week are
Sha’Nice Story (Academy of Art),
Tatiana Howard (Holy Names) and
Emma Meriggioli (CBU). The awards are based on games played Dec. 7-13.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Sha’Nice Storey (Academy of Art)
G, Sr., Portland, Ore./St. Mary’s Academy
Storey led Academy of Art to an 88-63 victory over Fresno Pacific, scoring 30 points on 10-of-18 shooting. She made eight three-pointers, the second-most in the NCAA this season. Storey set a program record with 20 points in the first quarter, knocking down six three-pointers, as the Urban Knights built a 27-19 lead. She also had three assists in the game. Storey leads the PacWest in three-pointers (30) and three-point field goals per game (2.5).
DEFENDER OF THE WEEK
Tatiana Howard (Holy Names)
C/F, So., Gardena, Calif./Seattle University
Howard led Holy Names to its first PacWest win of the year over Notre Dame de Namur in overtime, 75-71. She logged her second double-double with 13 points and a career-high 21 rebounds. She also had two steals and a block. Her 21 rebounds were tied for the fifth-most in the NCAA this season. Howard ranks fourth in the PacWest in rebounding (10.3 rpg) and eighth in defensive rebounding (6.1 rpg).
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Emma Meriggioli (CBU)
G, Fr., Madison, Wis./Edgewood
Meriggioli helped fifth-ranked CBU to two road wins over GNAC foes, averaging 10.0 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game. She had 16 points, four rebounds and four steals against Western Oregon, matching her career-high with three three-pointers.
