Softball Players of the Week – February 24

IRVINE, Calif. – This week’s PacWest Softball Players of the Week are Academy of Art’s Nirana Singh, Dominican’s Katelyn Harden and Dixie State’s Janessa Bassett. The awards are based on games played Feb. 16-22.
 
Player of the Week – Nirana Singh (Academy of Art)
C, Gr., Buffalo, N.Y./North Cobb
 
Singh led Academy of Art to three wins in a four-game series at Azusa Pacific. She batted .545 (6-11) with two home runs, six RBI and three runs scored. She also recorded a 1.091 slugging percentage. She had a hit in every game of the series, including a 3-for-4 performance in the series finale. She collected 10 hits in her first eight games as an Urban Knight.
 
Pitcher of the Week – Katelyn Harden (Dominican)
RHP, So., Hughson, Calif./Hughson
 
Harden did a little bit of everything to earn the win over Central Washington. She earned a complete game shutout, scattering seven hits, striking out four and walking none. She was also 2-for-3 with an RBI double and a run scored in the 2-0 win. She is third in the PacWest with a 1.00 ERA.
 
Newcomer of the Week – Janessa Bassett (Dixie State)
OF, Fr., Stansbury Park, Utah/Tooele
 
Bassett was 4-for-9 with three RBI and two runs scored in the series sweep of Montana State-Billings. She was also 4-for-4 in stolen bases. She went 2-for-3 with a two-run single in the series opener. She leads the PacWest in stolen bases (12) and is second in hits (19) and runs scored (13).
