Women’s Soccer Weekly Awards – Sept. 14

IRVINE, Calif. – This week’s PacWest Women’s Soccer Players of the Week are Academy of Art’s Rea Laudat, Azusa Pacific’s Haley Williamson and Concordia’s Megan Matchett. The awards are based on games played Sept. 7-13.
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Rea Laudat (Academy of Art)
F, Sr., Essex, England/West Hatch
 
Laudat totaled three points with a goal and an assist in ARTU’s 3-1 win over Cal State Monterey Bay. She assisted the game-tying goal and scored the game-winner in the 64th minute. The score made her ARTU’s career leader in game-winning goals (5). The win was the first over a CCAA opponent in Academy of Art women’s soccer history.
 
DEFENDER OF THE WEEK
Haley Williamson (Azusa Pacific)
D, So., Colorado Springs, Colo.
 
A key component of APU’s defense, Williamson helped the Cougars to two more shutouts on the week. APU held UCSD and Cal State L.A. to just eight total shots on goal. Dating back to last season, the Cougars have recorded seven-straight shutouts.
 
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Megan Matchett (Concordia)
D, Fr., Laguna Niguel, Calif./UC San Diego
 
Matchett recorded her first-career goal in Concordia’s lone game of the week, a 1-1 draw with Cal State San Marcos. She deposited her first-career shot into the upper right corner to put the Eagles ahead in the 65th minute.
