IRVINE, Calif. – This week’s PacWest Men’s Cross Country Runners of the Week are
Valentin Pepiot (Academy of Art) and
Max Moncur (BYU-Hawaii). The awards are based on races Sept. 21-27.
RUNNER OF THE WEEK
Valentin Pepiot (ARTU)
Sr., Besançon, France
Pepiot earned his second weekly honor with an outstanding performance at the Stanford Invitational. He took fourth place in the 8k race of nearly 300 competitors with a time of 23:53.2. Coming down the stretch, he passed two runners from Cal Poly to break into the top-five. He has placed in the top-five in each of the last three races.
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Max Moncur (BYU-Hawaii)
Fr., Mission Viejo, Calif./Trabuco Hills
Moncur was one of two Seasiders in the top-five as they took second place in their home invitational Saturday. Moncur finished fourth, the top freshman in the event, with a time of 28:03.0. It was the best finish of Moncur’s career in just his second 8k race.
