IRVINE, Calif. – This week’s PacWest Women’s Basketball Players of the Week are
Sandra Ikeora (Dominican),
Jasmin Guinn (Academy of Art) and
Alyssa Lorenzo (Dominican). The awards are based on games played Jan. 4-10.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Sandra Ikeora (Dominican)
F, So., Valencia, Calif./Valencia
Ikeora led Dominican to three wins to start 2016, averaging 23.0 points, 11.7 rebounds, 3.0 blocks and 2.0 steals per game. She shot 60.9 percent from the field (28-46) and scored 20 points in each contest. She scored 25 points on 11-of-16 shooting and had three steals against BYU-Hawaii. She tied her season-highs with five blocks against Holy Names and 15 rebounds against Notre Dame de Namur. Ikeora ranks 12
th in the PacWest in scoring (14.5 ppg), and fourth in rebounding (9.2 rpg) and field goal percentage (.538).
DEFENDER OF THE WEEK
Jasmin Guinn (Academy of Art)
G, Sr., Berkeley, Calif./Berkeley HS
Guinn earned her second weekly conference honor as she continued to perform as one of the top defender in the nation. She averaged 7.0 rebounds and 4.0 steals per game in three Academy of Art wins, as the Urban Knights remained unbeaten in conference play. She also averaged 18.0 points and 2.7 assists per game. She had six steals against Holy Names, marking her fifth game with at least six. She also had a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds in that game. Guinn leads the PacWest and ranks fourth in the NCAA in steals (3.88 spg).
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Alyssa Lorenzo (Dominican)
G, Fr., San Ramon, Calif./Valley Christian
Lorenzo helped Dominican to its perfect week, averaging 11.3 points and 1.7 steals per game. She scored in double-figures in every game, the longest streak of her career, and totaled 10 three-pointers. She scored a career-high 19 points, making five of her seven three-pointers, in her first-career start against NDNU. She scored 13 points in the third quarter against the Argos.
