2016 All-PacWest Volleyball Team

IRVINE, Calif.
– The 2016 All-PacWest volleyball team and awards were announced on Tuesday, following a vote by the league’s coaches. Five programs received individual awards and 13 were represented on the All-PacWest team.
 
Bianca Alvarez (Notre Dame de Namur) was named PacWest Player of the Year, becoming the first Argo to win the award. She led the PacWest and NCAA Division II in kills (5.26) and points (5.83) per set. She also led the conference and ranked second in the nation with 558 total kills, and had 31 aces. She recorded double-digit kills in every match this season, eclipsing 20 kills on 16 occasions. A two-time PacWest Player of the Week, she was named the AVCA DII Player of the Week on Nov. 15 after totaling 43 kills and 22 digs in two sweep victories. Her 22 and 21 kills were the two highest outputs in a three-set match in the PacWest this season.
 
Sydney Kralj (California Baptist) was named PacWest Setter of the Year. The Cal State L.A. transfer is the first Lancer to win the award. She led the PacWest and ranked 22nd in the nation in assists per set (11.02). She guided CBU to a .277 team hitting percentage, the best in the PacWest and seventh-best in the nation. A two-time PacWest Player of the Week, she also recorded 246 digs, 42 blocks, and 50 kills on a .359 hitting percentage.
 
Christin Fisher (Point Loma) was named PacWest Libero of the Year, the first Sea Lion to win the award. She led the PacWest in total digs (674) and digs per set (5.96), ranking 10th and ninth in the NCAA in each category, respectively. She accumulated double-digit digs in every match, setting the Point Loma single-match record with 40 in a four-set win at Dominican. A two-time PacWest Defender of the Week, she also accumulated 114 assists and 15 service aces.
 
Brianna Sizemore (Point Loma) was named PacWest Newcomer of the Year. She transferred to Point Loma from Mira Costa CC and led the Sea Lions with 408 kills, ranking ninth in the PacWest in kills per set (3.61). She logged double-digit kills in 23 of 29 matches, including a career-high 27 in a four-set win at Dominican. She posted a team-high 14 double-doubles, and totaled 291 digs, 58 blocks and 31 service aces.
 
Julianne Miller (Azusa Pacific) was named PacWest Freshman of the Year, becoming the first Cougar to win an individual award in PacWest volleyball. She led the PacWest with a .363 hitting percentage (303-63-662), ranking 26th overall and second among freshmen in the nation. She also ranked first in the conference in block solos (20), second in total blocks (123), sixth in block assists (103) and seventh in blocks per set (1.06). She led the Cougars in kills (303) and points (374.5). A two-time PacWest Freshman of the Week, she had 22 total blocks in the D2 West Region Volleyball Showcase, and 32 kills and a .537 hitting percentage over eight sets in the first week of November.
 
Paula Weishoff (Concordia) was named PacWest Coach of the Year. She led Concordia to the conference title in its second year in the PacWest with a 17-3 record. It was the first PacWest championship for Concordia in any sport. The Eagles ranked first in the PacWest in kills per set (112.76), second in hitting percentage (.250), first in opponent hitting percentage (.150) and second in blocks per set (2.32). The posted a 9-0 non-conference record, winning the CUI Labor Day Classic and the Turlock Pod of the D2 West Region Volleyball Showcase. CUI posted a 10-match conference winning streak and ascended to No. 22 in last AVCA national poll of the regular season.
 
Concordia led the conference with five All-PacWest members, the most in program history. CBU and Point Loma each had four, and Dominican, Fresno Pacific and Hawai’i Pacific each earned three. Pomai Recca (Hawai’i Pacific) and Melissa Brum (Academy of Art) each earned their fourth-career All-PacWest honors. Lauren Hackett (California Baptist) made the first team for the third-consecutive season.
