IRVINE, Calif. – This week’s PacWest Women’s Track & Field Athletes of the Week are
Keanna Moody (Academy of Art),
Marissa Bartello (Point Loma) and
Danica Dobosy (Azusa Pacific). The awards are based on competition from Feb. 27-March 20.
CO-TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Keanna Moody (Academy of Art)
Sr., Lincoln, Neb./North Star
Moody two NCAA Nationals provisional times at the Hornet Invitational. She started with a 55.02 in the 400m dash, placing second overall and first among collegiate runners. She then ran the opening leg of a 3:44.23 4x400m relay team that finished second behind Stanford. Moody is currently ranked second in the country in the 400m and first in the 4x400m.
CO-TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Marissa Bartello (Point Loma)
Fr., Laguna Hills, Calif./Laguna Hills
Bartello set the Point Loma program record with her win in the 3000m steeplechase at the Ross & Sharon Irwin Collegiate Scoring Meet. She posted a time of 11:09.68, the seventh-best in NCAA DII this season and nearly 15 seconds better than the record Jessica Howard set in 2004. It was the first time Bartello ever competed in that distance of the steeplechase; only running 2000m in high school.
FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Danica Dobosy (Azusa Pacific)
Sr., Mission Viejo, Calif./Trabuco Hills
Dobosy recorded two of the top-three hammer throw marks in NCAA DII this season. In her first outdoor competition of the season at the Rossi Relays, she recorded the only automatic qualifier throw at 59.13 meters. She followed that with an NCAA provisional qualifying throw of 56.68m at the Ben Brown Invitational.
