BethAnn McCann (Concordia),
Ashlyn Moriarty (Dominican) and
Soraya Shahbazian (California Baptist). The awards are based on games played April 18-24.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jessica West (Academy of Art)
OF, Jr., Portland, Ore./Woodrow Wilson
West hit .643 (9-14) in Academy of Art’s four-game series with No. 16 California Baptist. She hit two doubles, a triple, and to home runs for a 1.357 slugging percentage, scored seven runs and drove in four. She went 3-for-4 with two home runs, three RBI and two runs scored in ART U’s 8-7 win in the third game. West ranks seventh in the PacWest with 39 runs scored.
CO-PITCHER OF THE WEEK
BethAnn McCann (Concordia)
RHP, Jr., Anaheim, Calif./Loara
McCann won twice in Concordia’s four-game sweep of visiting BYU-Hawaii. She threw 13.0 innings, she allowed one earned run and 10 hits, while striking out five. She threw a three-hit shutout in her first start, with three strikeouts. McCann leads the PacWest with a 0.93 ERA and is 13-2 with 68 strikeouts.
CO-PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Ashlyn Moriarty (Dominican)
RHP, Sr., Temecula, Calif./Chaparral
Moriarty made two starts in Dominican’s four-game sweep of Notre Dame de Namur, recording a win and a no decision. In 9.0 innings pitched, she allowed only three hits and one earned run. She threw 5.0 shutout innings with one hit in the Penguins’ 10-inning victory on Sunday.
NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK
Soraya Shahbazian (CBU)
OF, Fr., Palos Verdes, Calif./Peninsula
Shahbazian earned her third weekly honor, hitting .462 (6-13) in six games. She drove in six runs and scored three times. She went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI in the series finale against Academy of Art.
