IRVINE, Calif. – This week’s PacWest Men’s Track & Field Athletes of the Week are
Mobolade Ajomale (Academy of Art),
Valentin Robert (California Baptist) and
Alex Henderson (Azusa Pacific). The awards are based on competition from March 28-April 3.
CO-TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Mobolade Ajomale (Academy of Art)
Fr.-RS, Richmond Hill, Canada
Coming off a National Championship in the indoor season, Ajomale made his outdoor debut at the Pepsi Florida Relays. He placed 33
rd in the 100m dash with a 10.53, an NCAA provisional qualifier and the third-fastest time in Academy of Art history. He then finished ninth in the 200m dash invite with a 20.88, the fastest time in NCAA DII this season and an ART U program record.
CO-TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Valentin Robert (CBU)
Jr., Vannes, France/IUT of Vannes
Robert recorded his first NCAA automatic qualifier mark of the season in the 3000m steeplechase at the Stanford Invitational. He crossed the finish line in a personal-best time of 8:53.75, taking third in his heat. It was the second-fastest time in CBU history, missing the record by just two seconds.
FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Alex Henderson (Azusa Pacific)
Jr., Redding, Calif./Enterprise
Henderson won the javelin at the California Collegiate Invitational with a throw of 66.00m. It was the top mark in the PacWest and the fourth-best in NCAA DII this season. He was just over a meter short of an NCAA automatic qualifier.
