2016 All-PacWest Women's Golf Team
IRVINE, Calif. – The 2016 All-PacWest Women’s Golf team was announced on Tuesday, following a vote by the league’s coaches.
Marvi Monsalve (California Baptist) was named Golfer of the Year,
Erica Wang (California Baptist) was named Freshman of the Year and
Elaine Harris (Academy of Art) was named Coach of the Year.
Monsalve earned her second PacWest Golfer of the Year award, winning in 2014 as a freshman. Currently ranked 10
th in Division II, she recorded a 74.68 average score in 19 rounds. She carded eight rounds of par or better, with a low round of 68. She finished in the top-five in five tournaments, including wins at the Dallas Baptist Women’s Classic and the Mustang Intercollegiate. She finished third at the PacWest Championships with a 229.
Wang became the second PacWest Freshman of the Year in CBU history, joining Monsalve. Currently ranked No. 21 in Division II, Wang posted an average score of 75.42 in 19 rounds. She recorded five top-10 finishes, including four in the top-five. She broke the CBU 18-hole and two-round scoring records at the Western New Mexico Fall Intercollegiate, her collegiate debut, with a 67 in the second round and a 5-under139 total. She won medalist honors at the PacWest Championship, shooting a 224 and winning a one-hole playoff.
Harris repeated as the PacWest Coach of the Year, leading Academy of Art to a No. 18 national ranking and the No. 6 seed in the NCAA West Regional. The Urban Knights earned their third team bid into the NCAA postseason under Harris. ART U finished second at the Sonoma State Fall Invitational, the CBU Women’s Invitational and the PacWest Championship.
CBU led the conference with five All-PacWest selections, as the Lancer lineup also finished in the top-10 at the PacWest Championship. Academy of Art and Point Loma each earned three All-PacWest selections.
