Women’s Track & Field Weekly Awards – April 5

IRVINE, Calif. – This week’s PacWest Women’s Track & Field Athletes of the Week are Katie Deimling (California Baptist) and Hannah Hensley (Academy of Art). The awards are based on competition from March 27-April 2 .
 
TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Katie Deimling (California Baptist)

Deimling broke her own record in the 3K steeplechase this weekend at the SF State Distance Carnival, clocking in the 10:35.38.  It was good for sixth place overall, but was the best time by a Division II athlete at the meet and a provisional qualifying mark.
 
FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Hannah Hensley (Academy of Art)
Sr.-Pinehurst, N.C../University of Alabama at Birmingham
 
At the Stanford Invitational, Hensley set an ARTU record in the high jump with a mark of 1.75m.  Short of auto qualification by 0.02m, she is now tied for the second-highest jump by a DII athlete this year.
