PACWEST WOMEN’S SOCCER WEEKLY NOTEBOOK
 
IRVINE, Calif. -- Point Loma and Biola both added four points with each team earning a win and a tie as the two teams separate themselves from the rest of the field. Three teams are tied with 10 points in the standings after Azusa Pacific earned its first consecutive wins of the season.
 
Point Loma extended its winning streak to 10 matches with a 3-0 win over Holy Names before it was snapped in a scoreless tie against Dominican. Alyssa Ramos became the first goalkeeper this year to shutout Point Loma, recording six saves in the scoreless tie for the Penguins. Hawai`i Pacific tied Biola on Thursday before earning an overtime victory on Saturday against Concordia to move into seventh place in the PacWest standings, doubling their points total on the season.
 
With its two wins last week, Azusa Pacific now has the longest active winning streak in the conference. That streak will next be tested when Fresno Pacific visits the Cougars on Thursday. On Tuesday, Biola will wrap up its trip to the islands with a match against Hawai`i Hilo before returning home to host Fresno Pacific on Saturday. Point Loma will be looking to start a new winning streak in Hawai`i this week as the Sea Lions visit Hawai`i Pacific on Thursday and Chaminade on Saturday. Julia Glaser goes into the trip just one game-winning goal shy of tying the single-season PacWest record.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Madi deMetropolis, Biola

Madi deMetropolis scored a goal and recorded an assist last week as Biola earned four points in two matches in Hawaii. The sophomore assisted the game-tying goal in the Eagles’ 1-1 tie at Chaminade. Two days later, she delivered the game-winning goal against Chaminade for her first goal of the season and the third game-winner of her career. The golden goal came in the 98th minute on a breakaway down the middle. The goal gave Biola three more points in the standings to move into the second position on the PacWest table.
 
DEFENDER OF THE WEEK
Lauren Spencer, Hawai`i Pacific
GK, Sr., 5-7 -- Oxford, Mich.
Spencer helped Hawai`i Pacific earn four points at home last week to move up to seventh place in the PacWest standings as she held opponents to just one goal in 211 minutes of work. The senior recorded her third shutout of the season in the Sharks’ overtime victory against Concordia. Spencer recorded eight saves in 101 minutes of work to keep the match scoreless until the golden goal. She also helped HPU to a 1-1 tie against Biola with four saves.
 
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Emma Hinson, Point Loma
GK, Fr., 5-10 -- Portland, Ore.
Hinson recorded her eighth and ninth shutouts of her freshman season as the Sea Lions improved to 10-1-1 for the year with a 3-point cushion at the top of the PacWest standings. Hinson recorded two saves in the 3-0 win over Holy Names. Two days later, she held Dominican scoreless for 110 minutes in a tie with five saves. She brought her goals-against average down to 0.24 on the season, which ranks third in the nation. PLNU leads the country in shutout percentage.
