PACWEST VOLLEYBALL WEEKLY NOTEBOOK
 
IRVINE, Calif. -- Biola completed its trip to Hawai`i with three wins to extend its winning streak to eight matches and move within half a match of first place in the PacWest standings.
 
Biola avenged one of its conference losses earlier in the season by beating Hawai`i Hilo 3-1 on Friday to wrap up a successful trip to the islands. The Eagles also defeated Chaminade and Hawai`i Pacific, dropping only two sets during the trip.
 
Azusa Pacific held onto first place in the league with wins at Holy Names and Academy of Art. Against the Hawks, Julianne Miller had a .857 hitting percentage, breaking Azusa Pacific’s single-match record while reclaiming her spot as the conference leader in hitting percentage for the season.
 
Point Loma has kept pace with the two teams ahead in the conference standings by winning all of its last six matches. The Sea Lions have won seven-consecutive sets after sweeping Holy Names and Academy of Art.
 
This week, Point Loma will host Azusa Pacific on Tuesday. Azusa Pacific will also travel to Fresno Pacific as the Cougars try to stay in first place in the conference. Biola will host Notre Dame de Namur before making a trip to Concordia.
 
Chaminade, Hawai`i Hilo and Hawai`i Pacific are back in California to take on the Bay Area schools, starting on Saturday with Hawai`i Hilo playing against Holy Names. The first regional rankings will come out on Wednesday.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Julianne Miller, Azusa Pacific
MB, Jr., 6-1 -- Rocklin, Calif.
The PacWest’s career and single-season record holder for hitting percentage also broke Azusa Pacific’s single-match record for hitting percentage as she recorded kills on 18 of 21 attacks in Azusa Pacific’s sweep of Holy Names. Miller is now the PacWest leader for the season in hitting percentage and is on pace to break the record she set last year with a .436 hitting percentage. The junior also had six blocks in as many sets in the sweeps of Academy of Art and Holy Names. Miller had nine kills and one error on 16 attacks against Academy of Art.
 
DEFENDER OF THE WEEK
Bekah Roth, Biola
MB, So., 6-1 -- San Jose, Calif.
Roth helped Biola win all three matches in the trip to Hawaii to extend the team’s winning streak to eight matches. The sophomore tallied 16 blocks in 11 sets, twice equaling her season-high of six block assists. Roth also had five digs to help the Eagles’ defense. Roth had 13 kills in the three matches.
 
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Destiny Williams, NDNU
OH, Fr., 5-9 -- Stockton, Calif.
Williams equaled or improved her single-match high for the season in points in all three matches last week, including wins over Academy of Art and Dominican. The freshman had 14 kills in the first match for a .650 hitting percentage. Williams then had 11 kills and six blocks in the next match, including a season-high four solo blocks. Williams wrapped up the week with another 14 kills in a four-set loss to Fresno Pacific. Her totals on the week were 39 kills, 12 blocks and five digs with a .389 hitting percentage as NDNU improved to 5-7 on the season.
