Warwick's Heptathlon Automatic Qualifier Leads Weekly Honors

IRVINE, Calif. -- This week’s PacWest Track & Field Athletes of the Week are Emeline Delanis from California Baptist, Nicole Warwick from Azusa Pacific, Gatien Airieu from Academy of Art and Andrew Morin from Academy of Art. The awards are based on competition from April 16-22nd.
 
WOMEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Emeline Delanis, California Baptist
Jr. – Draveil, France/Lycee Rosa Parks de Montgeron
Delanis took off in the fastest 5K heat at the Bryan Clay invitational against multiple Division I foes and not only held her own, but shattered the previous CBU record by almost 30 seconds. She finished in 10th place with a time of 16 minutes, 8.21 seconds, which also guarantees her a spot at the NCAA Division II Championship in May with an automatic qualifying mark.
 
WOMEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Nicole Warwick, Azusa Pacific
Fr. – Modesto, Calif./Modesto Christian 
Warwick posted an automatic qualifier to the NCAA Division II national championships in the heptathlon with a score of 5474 at the Bryan Clay Invite. She recorded a distance of 6.33 meters in the long jump for 953 of her points.
 
MEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Gatien Airieu, Academy of Art
Gr. – Sassenage, France/EGC Chambery
In Stanford's Cardinal Classic 1500 meters, Airiau unleashed not only a personal record, but the second-fastest time in ART U program history with his 3:47.87 mark. The time was a NCAA Nationals provisional qualifier and placed him 15th in the country.
 
MEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK 
Andrew Morin, Fresno Pacific
Jr. – Tulare, Calif./ Tulare HS
Morin landed 12th in the Pole Vault at the Bryan Clay invitational behind many Division I competitors from Arizona State and UC Davis.
