IRVINE, Calif. – The 2016-17 All-PacWest Women’s Golf Team is led by
Anahi Servin from Academy of Art, who was named both the PacWest Player of the Year and PacWest Freshman of the Year after winning the conference championships to wrap up the regular season.
Servin has won three events this year, starting with a win at the Battle of the Bay, where she shot a 4-over-par 76 in the single-round event for the individual title. The freshman went on to win the title at the Mikuni Sushi Shootout hosted by Holy Names with a score of 5-over-par 149 to win the event by a margin of five strokes.
Servin also put together a dominant performance at the PacWest Championships. The first-team selection opened the tournament with a record-smashing round of 8-under-par 64 to grab an early lead. She held onto that lead for the rest of the event and shot a 2-under-par 70 in the third round to finish at 10-under-par 206 to win the title by nine shots.
Marc Machado from California Baptist won his second PacWest Coach of the Year honor in his second year at the helm of the CBU women’s golf team. The program won its fourth-consecutive PacWest title and second under Machado’s leadership. The Lancers ultimately won the conference title by a 32-stroke advantage after all five golfers were selected to the all-tournament team.
California Baptist had three first-team selections in
Yifei Wang,
Erica Wang and
Samantha Martirez. Dixie State’s
Katie Ford was also a first-team selection after a strong season that included an individual title at the PLNU Reach. Servin completes the first-team selection, and all five of the athletes will be competing in the NCAA West/South Central Super-Regional in Fort Lewis, Colorado beginning on Monday.
