1,816 Student-Athletes Named To 2017-18 Academic All-PacWest Team

2017-18 ACADEMIC ALL-PACWEST TEAM

IRVINE, Calif. -- For the second year in a row, the PacWest has broken its record for total number of athletes on the Academic All-PacWest Team as 1,816 student-athletes qualified for the team during the 2017-18 academic year.

In its first year in the conference, Biola led all schools in number of total selections with 176. The Eagles top team was the women's track & field squad that had a total of 28 selections to the Academic All-PacWest team. Azusa Pacific had the second-most with 173 honorees, including 25 from the conference champion baseball team. California Baptist followed with the third-most honorees at 166. Concordia's women's track & field team had the most selections of any single team with 34 honorees. A total of 163 student-athletes from Concordia were recognized.

There were 37 student-athletes that maintained a cumulative GPA of 4.0 on the Academic All-PacWest Team. Nine of them were seniors: Corey Langerveld, Alex Brunk, Daniel Arnoll, Connor Hylton, Carter Bishop, Haley Wheelon, Gina Tedrow, Kaiti Freeberg and Leticia Gonzalez Dos Santos.

Student-athletes who achieve at least a cumulative 3.0 grade-point average, completed at least two semesters at their institution and participated in regular season competition in a PacWest sponsored sport receive Academic All-PacWest recognition.
