Academy of Art Wins Both Individual Titles In San Francisco

IRVINE, Calif. – Five PacWest teams competed in the San Francisco State Invitational in both the men’s and women’s races which is the most PacWest teams at the same event before the PacWest Championships in November. Biola won both the men’s and women’s races at the SF State Invitational, while Academy of Art claimed both individual titles and finished in second place as a team in both races.

RUNNER OF THE WEEK
Hasna Kaarour, Academy of Art
GS – Strasbourg, France/College Joseph Chaumie/Landscape Architecture
Kaarour took first place at the San Francisco State Invitational with a time of 22:10.6 on the 6k course. The junior edged Biola’s Mackenna Mason by three seconds to claim the title. Kaarour had an average mile time of 5:56.8 as she helped the Urban Knights take second place as a team with a score of 60. She led a trio of Urban Knights to top-10 finishes.
 
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Clara Haynes, Biola
Fr. – Yuma, Ariz./Gila Ridge/Nursing
Haynes was the second Biola runner to cross the finish line, taking fourth place out of 107 runners. Her time of 22:27.6 helped Biola win the team title with a score of 39. Haynes had an average mile time of 6:01.4 and was one of three Eagles to finish among the top six at the SF State Invitational.

Victor Moreau, Academy of Art
GS – Clermont-Ferrand, France/Lycee Blaise Pascal/Communications
Moreau covered the 8k course at the SF State Invitational in 25:12.6 to take first place and earn recognition as the PacWest Runner of the Week. Moreau helped Academy of Art take second place as a team as three Urban Knights finished inside the top five. Moreau edged Biola’s Gabe Plendcio by 3.4 seconds to earn the win.
 
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Jared Donnel, Biola
Fr. – Woodinville, Wash./Bellevue Christian School/Accounting
At the SF State Intitational, Donnel took sixth place out of 101 runners with a time of 25:59.4. Donnel’s performance helped Biola take home the team title as he was the second of four Eagles to finish inside the top 10. The Eagles finished with a team score of 34 to win the race that featured seven NCAA Division II teams, including five teams from the PacWest.
