Pole Vaulters Take Final Awards Before PacWest Championships

IRVINE, Calif. – This week’s PacWest Track & Field Athletes of the Week are Brie Courseault, Sara Wagenveld, Victor Moreau and Josh Fry.

WOMEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Brie Courseault, Fresno Pacific
Jr. – Hesperia, Calif./Sultana/Psychology 
Last week, one of the best sprinters in the PacWest set two personal records, recording NCAA provisional qualifying times in the 200-meter dash and the 400-meter dash. Competing in the Bryan Clay Invitational, Courseault ran a 54.22 in the 400-meter dash, which is the second-best time in the PacWest this year. In the 200-meter dash, the junior recorded the sixth-best time in the nation and best in the PacWest at 23.83 seconds. She also competed in the 4x100-meter relay and helped Fresno Pacific record a time of 46.15 seconds.
 
WOMEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Sara Wagenveld, Azusa Pacific
Jr. – Escondido, Calif./Calvin Christian/English                                
Wagenveld set a new personal best in the pole vault at the Bryan Clay Invitational, clearing a height of 3.90 meters. It is the best mark in the PacWest and the 11th-best in the nation. Wagenveld also competed in the discus and recorded a distance of 37.50 meters to take 28th place.
 
MEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Victor Moreau, Academy of Art
GS – Clermont-Ferrand, France/Université Blaise Pascal/Communications & Media Tech
Moreau ran the 5,000 meters at the Bryan Clay Invitational and took third place with a personal-best time of 14:09.23, which was the second best time in his heat among runners from NCAA Division II. Moreau earned a provisional qualifying mark in the event, ranking eighth on the NCAA Division II performance list.

MEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Josh Fry, Concordia
Sr. – Goleta, Calif./Dos Pueblos/Business Management
Fry set a personal best in the pole vault at the Bryan Clay Invitational last weekend, clearing a height of 4.90 meters to finish in sixth place at the event. It was the second-best result by an NCAA Division II athlete and an NCAA provisional qualifier, clearing 4.90 meters on the second try. It is the best mark in the PacWest and ranks 23rd in the nation.
