Academy of Art Wins Three Track & Field Awards

IRVINE, Calif. – This week’s PacWest Track & Field Athletes of the Week are Victor Moreau, Sam Heinrichs, Ombretta Minkue Meye and Camille Jouanno.

WOMEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Ombretta Picciolie Minkue Meye, Academy of Art
Sr. – Metz, France/Universite De Lorraine/Communications & Media Tech 
Ombretta Picciolie Minkue Meye became the PacWest leader in both the 100-meter and 200-meter dash this weekend after running a 24.09 in the 200 at the Florida Relays. The senior’s mark was her second provisional qualifier and the best time in NCAA Division II so far this year. She also competed in the 4x100-meter relay, helping the Urban Knights record a time of 46.64, which is the best time in the PacWest so far this year and another provisional qualifier. Minkue Meye also competed in the 4x400-meter relay and narrowly missed out on another provisional qualifier with the 11th best time in the nation at 3:49.20.
 
WOMEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Camille Jouanno, Academy of Art
Sr. – Bordeaux, France/Lycee Montesquieu/Communications & Media Tech                                
Jouanno recorded a distance of 12.48 meters in the triple jump at the Florida Relays, which is an NCAA Division II provisional qualifier. The senior recorded the best mark in the PacWest and the third best in the nation.
 
MEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Victor Moreau, Academy of Art
Sr. – Clermont-Ferrand, France/Universite Blaise Pascal/Communications & Media Tech
Moreau competed at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic, where he recorded his best times on the season in both the 800 and the 1500. The senior recorded the second-best time in the nation in the 1500 at 3:46.65, which is just a couple seconds away from an automatic qualifier. He also recorded the PacWest’s second-best time in the 800, finishing in 1:53.38.

MEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Sam Heinrichs, Fresno Pacific
Fr. – Kingsburg, Calif./Kingsburgh HS/Business
Heinrichs posted the PacWest’s second-best height in the Pole Vault this season at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic. The freshman cleared 4.65 meters and took fourth place in the event. He cleared 4.35 on his third attempt, 4.50 on his first attempt, and 4.65 on his second attempt. Only one competitor cleared 4.80, which is the provisional qualifying mark.
