Biola Voted PacWest Sports Information Department Of The Year

IRVINE, Calif. – At the conclusion of the 2019 PacWest Sports Information Directors meeting, Biola University received the annual award for the Sports Information Department of the Year in the PacWest. Neil Morgan and Brandon Taylor were selected by their peers for the award after completing their second year of work in the conference.

“This is a well-earned award for both Neil and Brandon, who have earned the respect of their colleagues in the PacWest,” PacWest Director of Sports Communications Jared Pine said. “While doing an outstanding job of promoting Biola athletics, Neil and Brandon have also gone out of their way to help others in the business. Along with managing Biola’s online presence, they have also helped give students, parents and alumni a great gameday experience.”

Morgan is completing six years as the Assistant Athletic Director of Communications and Game Management at Biola. He has covered Biola’s volleyball and cross country programs that both won national championships in the fall. Morgan has also been with Biola throughout the transition to NCAA Division II with the hopes of becoming a full member this summer.

“It means a lot to be selected for this award,” Morgan said. “We’ve got a fantastic group of very talented SIDs in this conference. I’m so appreciative that they would choose us for this honor. I’d also like to recognize the great staff, student workers, photographers and interns who make up our sports information office at Biola. We’ve got a great team!”

Taylor completed his second year of working full-time in Biola’s sports information department after spending several years volunteering at the Eagles’ athletics events since 2011. He covered the Eagles’ soccer, golf, women’s basketball, baseball and tennis teams. Taylor also assisted in giving play-by-play commentary on some Biola broadcasts and served as public address for some home events.

“The PacWest is a great conference and I'm honored to receive this recognition from a group of colleagues I really respect,” Taylor said. “Working alongside Neil to cover Biola's student-athletes is incredibly fulfilling and I love playing a part in telling our student-athletes' stories and highlighting their successes.”
