2018-19 ACADEMIC ALL-PACWEST TEAM
IRVINE, Calif. – In the 2018-19 Academic All-PacWest team, there are 1,555 student-athletes who earned recognition across the PacWest’s 15 sports, including a record 39 students with a 4.00 grade-point average.
For the second year in a row, Biola led all schools in honorees with 197 student-athletes meeting the requirements for the honor. That is 21 more than the previous year for the Eagles, who had 29 student-athletes earn recognition from the women’s track & field team as well as 26 from the women’s soccer team.
The largest number of student-athletes to earn recognition from a single team was Concordia’s women’s track & field program for the second year in a row with 37 award-winners, which is three more than last year. Concordia had a total of 159 student-athletes honored. Point Loma had the third-most student-athletes earn recognition with 154, which includes 25 from the baseball team that reached the NCAA West Regional.
Of the 37 student-athletes with perfect 4.0 GPAs, there are two grad students, who are
Christina DenBoer and
Lukas Motschmann. There are also six seniors with a perfect cumulative GPA:
Ashley Julio,
Cassidy Towner,
Fabian Lueders,
Michael Palos,
Alyssa Tanigawa and
Jordan Tagawa.
Student-athletes who achieve at least a cumulative 3.0 grade-point average, completed at least two semesters at their institution and participated in regular season competition in a PacWest sponsored sport receive Academic All-PacWest recognition.
