Agnes Tuilevuka wins weekly PacWest honor

QUEEN CREEK, AZ - BYU-Hawaii junior outside hitter Agnes Tuilevuka (Suva, Fiji) has been chosen the Pacific West Conference Volleyball Player of the Week.

The honor was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Queen Creek, AZ, on Monday, Oct. 20, for matches contested from Oct. 13-19.

Tuilevuka averaged 5.33 points per game in a 3-0 week for the Seasiders. She hit .417 with 47 kills and two block assists in nine games. She ranked second in the league in points and kills (5.22) per game for the week, and was fourth in hitting.

Kelly Balany (photo) - Hawai‘i Pacific (So., MH, 6-0, San Diego, CA/Valhalla)...ranked sixth in the league for the week in hitting (.410)...shared league lead with 10 blocks...averaged 4.75 points per game, good enough for fourth in the league for the week...averaged 4.00 kills per game (6th).

Heather Baron - Grand Canyon (Jr., OH, 5-10, Lancaster, CA/Saguaro)...ranked third in the conference in hitting percentage for the week with a .432 rate...posted 22 kills in 44 attempts with just three errors...averaged 3.67 kills per game (tied for 6th in the league)...ranked sixth in points per game (4.50) with 22 kills, two aces, two block solos, two block assists and 27 points.

Laurann Durbin - Grand Canyon (Fr., DS/OH, 5-8, Phoenix, AZ/Sunnyslope)...led PacWest for the week in digs per game (6.17)...totaled 37 in six games.

Losaline Faka‘osi - BYU-Hawaii (Fr., 5-9, OH, Salt Lake City, UT/Highland)...averaged 3.56 kills per game and 3.72 points per game to help the Seasiders to a 3-0 week...ranked third in the league for the week in digs per game (4.78).

Jayci Jeffress - Dixie State (Fr., L/DS, 5-7, Brighton, CO/Brighton)...led the PacWest in total digs for the week with 58...averaged 4.14 digs per game to rank fifth for the week.

LeeAnn Mapu (photo) - BYU-Hawaii (Sr., 5-7, S, Laie, HI/Kahuku)...ranked second in the PacWest for the week in assist average (14.56 per game)...led the league in total assists (131).

Faylynn Merrick - BYU-Hawaii (Sr., 5-11, MB, Sauk Rapids, MN/Rice)...tied for sixth in kills per game for the week with a 3.67 average...ranked fifth in hitting for the week with a .414 rate...averaged 4.22 points per game, good enough for eighth...produced 33 kills, one ace, one block solo and six block assists for 38 points.

Josimara Pinheiro - Hawai‘i Hilo (Jr., OH, 5-10, Jundiai, Brazil)...topped the PacWest in points per game for the week with a 6.33 average...totaled 16 kills, two aces and two block assists in lone match of the week...led league in kills per game (5.33)...averaged 4.00 digs per game to rank sixth in the league for the week.

Fabiane Seben - Hawai‘i Hilo (Jr., MH, 6-1, Caxias do Sul, Brazil)...recorded 15 points in lone match of the week - a 3-0 sweep of Chaminade...recorded 10 kills, one ace and eight block assists...led the league in blocks per game for the week (2.67)...also shared the conference lead with a .533 hitting percentage.

Jenna Skadeland - Grand Canyon (Jr., MB, 5-11, Williston, ND/Williston)...tied for the lead in kill percentage with a .533 rate...recorded 17 kills with just one error in 30 attempts...tied for second during the week in blocks per game (1.33)...posted eight total blocks on two solos and six assists.
