Player of the Week award
QUEEN CREEK, AZ - BYU-Hawaii senior forward
Latoya Wily (Laie, HI/Kahuku) averaged a
double-double over two games in leading the Seasiders to a 2-0 mark
and claiming the Pacific West Conference Women's Basketball Player
of the Week award.
The honor was announced on Thursday, Jan. 1, by the PacWest
Media Office in Queen Creek, AZ, for games played Dec. 15-21.
Wiley averaged 28 points and 17 boards per game, leading the
league in scoring for the week while ranking second in rebounding.
She shot 54.1% from the field, making 20 of 37 field goal attempts,
and she averaged 3.50 steals per contest to rank second for the
week.

Sheila Azevedo (photo) - Hawai‘i Hilo (Sr., F, 5-10, Hilo,
HI/Waiakea)...averaged 16.5 points and 7.0 rebounds
per game in a split with St. Martin's on Dec. 18 and Dec.
20...ranked fourth in scoring and sixth in rebounding for the week.
Tanya Clark - Dixie State (Jr., F, 5-10, Beaumont,
CA/Beaumont)...averaged 10.0 rebounds and 9.5 points
per game as Dixie State split a pair of games, falling to Central
Washington on Dec. 18 and beating Western Washington in overtime on
Dec. 19...ranked third in rebounding for the week in the
PacWest...also doled out 3.00 assists per contest and made 5 of 6
free throw attempts (83.3%)...shot 53.8% from the field (7 for 13).
Ashley Kualii - Hawai‘i Hilo (Sr., G, 5-6,
Hilo, HI/Waiakea)...averaged 16.5 points, 4.5
rebounds, 3.00 assists and 2.50 steals per game in a 1-1 week
featuring back-to-back games vs. St. Martin's on Dec. 18 and Dec.
20...tied for fourth with teammate Sheila Azevedo in scoring for
the week in the PacWest.
Paris Gravely (photo) - Hawai‘i Pacific (Fr., G, 5-5,
Fairfield, CA/Fairfield)...sixth in the PacWest in
scoring for the week...averaged 16.0 points per game...shot 42.9%
from the field (15 for 35).
Mana Hopkins - Hawai‘i Pacific (Fr., F, 5-10,
Kona, HI/Konawaena)...averaged 15.0 points and 3.00
steals per game over three contests for the Sea Warriors...averaged
4.0 rebounds per contest as well...shot 52.9% from the field (18
for 34)...ranked eighth in scoring, fourth in assists and sixth in
shooting for the week in the PacWest.
Maltresa Neely - Hawai‘i Pacific (Jr., F,
5-10, Downey, CA/Downey)...ranked third for the week
in PacWest in shooting (54.2%)...made 13 of 24 shots...tied for
11th in scoring average (12.00 points per game) and eighth in
rebounds per game (6.3)...was perfect from the foul line (8 for
8)...saw action in all three games for the Sea Warriors.
Rosalyn Nelson - Grand Canyon (Jr., G, 5-8, Phoenix,
AZ/Deer Valley)...led Antelopes to a 1-1
week...averaged 15.5 points and 6.0 rebounds per game...ranked
seventh in scoring and tied for ninth in rebounding for the week in
the PacWest...doled out 5.50 assists and had 4.50 steals per
game... ranked first in steals and second in assists for the
week...hit 7 of 9 free throw attempts (77.8%).
Eileen Pineda - Hawai‘i Hilo (Jr., G, 5-6,
Brownsville, TX/Homer Hanna)...averaged 18 points per
contest while shooting 76.5% from the field over two
games...connected on 13 of 17 field goal attempts...led the league
in shooting for the week...hit 6 of 9 three-point attempts
(66.7%)...averaged 3.00 three-pointers made per game.
Britni Rathke - NDNU (Sr., F, 5-11, Snohomish,
WA/Snohomish)...scored 28 points and collected 20
rebounds in a 73-60 victory over Academy of Art on Dec. 17...shot
56.5% from the field, making 13 of 23 attempts...recorded three
steals and made both free throw attempts...blocked four shots in
the victory.
Samantha Saito (photo) - Chaminade (Jr., G, 5-4,
Aiea, HI/Sacred Hearts)...averaged 13.0 points per
game over four contests for the Silverswords...shot 40% from beyond
the arc (8 for 20)...made 90.9% of free throw attempts (10 for
11).
