QUEEN CREEK, AZ - BYU-Hawaii senior forward
Latoya Wily (Laie, HI/Kahuku) unleashed
maybe her single-best seven-day stretch of the season to garner her
sixth Pacific West Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week
award of the 2008-09 campaign.
The final weekly selection was announced on Monday, March 9, by
the PacWest Media Office in Queen Creek, AZ, for games played March
2-8.
Wily averaged an astonishing double-double, blistering the
opposition by posting 28.5 points and 17.5 rebounds per contest.
She led the league in scoring, rebounding and shooting for the
week, the latter featuring a 60.6% (20 for 33) success rate from
the field. She also ranked second in steals per game (3.50).

Courtney Boyd - Dixie State (Sr., G, 5-6, Keokuk,
IA/Keokuk)...averaged 11.5 points and 6.0 rebounds
per game as the Red Storm swept Grand Canyon in its final two games
of the year...averaged 3.50 assists, 2.00 steals and 2.00
three-pointers made per game...ranked in the Top 10 in all three
categories for the week in the PacWest...shot 91.7% from the line
(11 for 12) to rank seventh this week in the league.
Tanya Clark (photo) - Dixie State (Jr., F, 5-10,
Beaumont, CA/Beaumont)...averaged 12.0 rebounds and
9.5 points per game in a sweep over PacWest Champion Grand
Canyon...ranked second in rebounding for the week in the PacWest.
Jasmine Dulan - Chaminade (Sr., G, 5-4, Honolulu,
HI/St. Francis)...averaged 22.0 points per game in
Chaminade's final two contests of the year...shot 51.7% (15 for 29)
from the floor...went 6 for 6 from the line...made 8 of 18
three-point attempts (44.4%)...averaged 4.00 three-pointers made
per game...ranked first in three-pointers made per game for the
week in the PacWest...ranked second in three-point shooting, eighth
in field goal percentage, third in scoring and second in steals per
game (3.50)...tied for the lead in foul shooting for the week.
Richelle Fenenbock - BYU-Hawaii (So., G, 5-6, Coeur
d'Alene, ID/Lake City)...averaged 15.5 points and
3.50 three-pointers made per game in a 2-0 week for the
Seasiders...ranked eighth in scoring and second in three-pointers
made per game for the week...led the PacWest in three-point
shooting (50%) after making 7 of 14 attempts...ranked fourth in
field goal shooting with a 55.6% (10 for 18) rate...perfect at the
line (4 for 4).
Jessica Hanato - Hawai‘i Hilo (Sr., G, 5-6, Kailua-Kona,
HI/Konawaena)...averaged 19.0 points and shot 55.3%
from the floor in a 2-1 week for the Vulcans...ranked fourth in
scoring and fifth in field goal shooting for the week in the
PacWest...averaged 3.67 assists per game to rank ninth in the
league for the week...pulled down 5.7 rebounds per contest.
Hina Kimitete (photo) - Hawai‘i Hilo (Jr., G,
5-3, Kailua-Kona, HI/Konawaena)...solid all-around
week for the Vulcans...ranked second in assists per game (6.33),
first in steals per contest (3.67), fourth in three-pointers made
per game (2.67), and second in three-point shooting (44.4%) during
a 2-1 week for UHH...made 8 of 18 attempts from beyond the
arc...averaged 12.7 points per contest.
Samantha Murphy - Grand Canyon (So., G, 5-8,
Phoenix, AZ/Xavier Prep)...averaged 18.5 points per
game and 7.0 rebounds per contest in two tough losses last
week...tied for fifth in scoring and seventh in rebounding for the
week in the PacWest...shot 50% from the floor (15 for
30)...averaged 2.00 steals per contest.
Deney Phommabout - Dixie State (Sr., G, 5-7, West
Valley City, UT/Hillcrest)...led the Red Storm to a
2-0 week by averaging 15.3 points per game...shot 83.3% from the
line (5 for 6).
Samantha Saito - Chaminade (Jr., G, 5-4, Aiea, HI/Sacred
Hearts)...averaged 18.5 points per game over two
contests as the Silverswords closed out their season...was perfect
at the foul line (6 for 6)...shot 43.8% from three-point land (7
for 16)...ranked fourth in three-point shooting for the week in the
conference...also ranked seventh in steals per game (2.50) and
second in three-pointers made per game (3.50).
Tiffany Wilson (photo) - Hawai‘i Pacific (Jr.,
G, 5-9, Long Beach, CA/Mayfair)...averaged 22.3
points and 9.3 rebounds in two tough losses vs. BYU-Hawaii..ranked
second in scoring and third in rebounding in the PacWest for the
week...shot 51.2% (22 for 43) from the field to rank
ninth...averaged 3.00 steals per game to tie for fourth in the
league for the week.
