Keoni Manago and Aaron
Correa have been named the Pacific West Conference
Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively.
The PacWest announced the awards on April 23 from its office in
Phoenix, AZ, for games contested April 11-17.
(April 18,
2011) - Player of the Week (April 11-17)...Keoni Manago -
Hawai‘i Hilo (Sr., 5-9, 180, OF, R/R, Honolulu,
HI/Roosevelt...hit .342 in a 5-6 week for the
Vulcans...was 13 for 38 in 11 games and 10 starts...scored 11 runs,
drove in eight and belted three homers...doubled twice and whacked
a pair of triples...walked nine times and reached once after
getting hit...had a .737 slugging rate and a .469 on-base
average...also hit a sacrifice fly.
(April 18, 2011) - Pitcher of
the Week (April 11-17)...Aaron Correa - Hawai‘i Hilo
(Sr., 6-0, 190, P, R/L, Hilo,
HI/Kamehameha-Hawaii)...posted a 2-0 record in two
starts during the week...tossed two complete games...posted a 3.21
ERA in 14.0 innings of action...allowed five earned runs while
striking out 11 batters...permitted just three walks...earned a 4-3
win over Dixie State on April 12...claimed an 11-2 victory vs.
Hawai‘i Pacific on April 16.

Kapolei, HI/Kamehameha Schools)...hit .429 (9 for 21)
in six starts...scored four runs and had four RBI...stole two bases
and walked five times...posted a .429 slugging rate and a .538
on-base average.
Bryce Anderson - Dixie State (So., 6-0, 175, R/R,
Cedar City, UT/Cedar)...tossed a nine-inning,
complete-game shutout on April 13 vs. Hawai‘i Hilo...Red
Storm won game 6-0...struck out nine and allowed just three
hits...opponents hit .103.
Joey Bristyan - Grand Canyon (Jr., 5-9, 165, OF,
L/L, Scottsdale, AZ/Horizon)...hit .500 in four
starts during a 2-2 week for the Antelopes...went 6 for 12 with two
runs scored, five walks and a stolen base...posted a .500 slugging
percentage and a .647 on-base mark...had a sacrifice bunt as
well.
Kyle DiMartino - Dixie State (Jr., 6-0, 200, R/R,
Las Vegas, NV/Durango)...helped lead the Red Storm to
a 4-1 week on the mound...in three appearances earned a victory and
a save...posted a 0.00 ERA in 5.0 innings of work with eight
strikeouts...scattered three hits...tossed two shutout innings to
earn 1-0 win vs. Hawai‘i Hilo on April 11...struck out five
of the eight batters faced...went 2.1 innings vs. Vulcans on April
12 to earn save in 7-4 Red Storm win.
Niko Leite - Academy of Art (Jr., 5-8, 150, OF, R/R,
Rodeo, CA/Salesian)...hit .600 in four starts during
a 2-2 week for the Urban Knights...went 6 for 10 with two runs
scored, one double, one RBI and two walks...4 for 4 in stolen base
attempts...hit a sacrifice fly...had a .700 slugging percentage and
a .615 on-base mark.
Zach Mexicano - Academy of Art (Jr., 6-0, 175, P, R/L, Scotts
Valley, CA/Scotts Valley)...tossed a complete-game
victory vs. Grand Canyon on April 15...Art U won the contest
2-1...allowed one unearned run on seven hits over 7.0 innings of
work...struck out two.
Ernesto Ortiz - Grand Canyon (Jr., 5-10, 165, SS,
R/R, Phoenix, AZ/Chaparral)...helped the Antelopes to
a 2-2 week by hitting .471 in four starts...went 8 for 17 with
three runs scored, four doubles and one home run...drove in four
runs...had an .882 slugging rate and a .471 on-base average.
Bryan Patterson - Hawai‘i Hilo (Sr., 5-11,
185, IF, R/R, Hilo, HI/Hilo)...hit .371 in 11 starts
for the Vulcans during a 5-6 week...went 13 for 35 with eight runs
scored, nine RBI and one double...walked six times, stole a base
and was hit by a pitch...dropped a pair of sacrifice bunts and hit
a sacrifice fly.
Kenny Rollins - Academy of Art (Jr., 6-0, 210,
IF/OF, R/R, Ayer, MA/Ayer)...hit .583 with a .667
slugging percentage and a .677 on-base average...went 7 for 12 with
two runs, one double, three RBI, two walks and two stolen
bases...also was hit by a pitch.
Brady Wager - Grand Canyon (So., 6-2, 205, R/R,
Globe, AZ/Globe)...tossed a nine-inning,
complete-game victory vs. Art U on April 15...GCU won 7-2...struck
out 11 and allowed just two earned runs.
