Women’s Cross Country Runners of the Week – October 21

IRVINE, Calif. – This week’s PacWest Women’s Cross Country Runners of the Week are California Baptist’s Caroline Barkechir and Academy of Art’s McKaela Christenson. The awards are based on races held Oct.13-20.

Runner of the Week – Caroline Barkechir (California Baptist)
So., Eldoret, Kenya/Dry’s Girls

Barkechir finished in ninth place out of 172 runners at this weekend’s Santa Clara Bronco Invitational. Her season-best time of 20:42.1 led the Lancers to an 11^th place team finish. She is the second-consecutive Lancer to win the weekly award.

Freshman of the Week – McKaela Christenson (Academy of Art)
Fr.-RS, Baraboo, Wisc./Baraboo HS

Christenson placed 38^th at the Santa Clara Bronco Invitational. Her time of 21:28.3 not only helped lead Academy of Art to a 16^th place overall team finish, but it was also a career-best. She has been the PacWest Freshman of the Week twice in the last four weeks.
