WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- After making its deepest run in NCAA postseason and going unbeaten through its first 19 matches, California Baptist men's soccer had its season come to an end in the NCAA West Regional final with a 1-0 loss to No. 6 seed Cal Poly Pomona on Thursday.
The Broncos scored the only goal in the 11th minute to secure its second consecutive 1-0 win over a PacWest team. The goal was scored by Jose Garcia, and the goal proved to be all Cal Poly Pomona needed to advance to the national quarterfinals.
California Baptist created several scoring opportunities, but was denied at every turn by Jason Trejos, who recorded five saves for his third career postseason shutout.The Lancers took a total of 26 shots, but only managed to put five on frame.
Sebastian Wiesboeck led the Lancers' offensive attack with seven shots, including two that were on frame.
The Lancers finish the 2017 season with a 17-1-2 record to go along with a PacWest title to wrap up an historic season.
