KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Aidan Apodaca from California Baptist was named the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Player of the Week after scoring six goals in the Lancers' two wins on the opening weekend.
Along with his six goals Apodaca also recorded an assists as CBU defeated Cal State San Bernardino and Cal State San Marcos, outscoring the CCAA opponents 11-0. Apodaca scored four goals in the win against Cal State San Marcos, which tied the CBU single-game record.
Following the victories, California Baptist jumped into the top 25 in the nation at No. 23. The Lancers are also ranked No. 4 in the West Region. The PacWest preseason favorite continue non-conference play on Thursday, taking on Sonoma State, which reached the NCAA West Regional Tournament last year. That match will kickoff at Rohnert Park, California, at 2 p.m.
