Point Loma Claims 2018 Women's Cross Country PacWest Title

RESULTS

FRESNO, Calif. 
-- Point Loma is the 2018 PacWest Women's Cross Country Champions after placing four runners inside the top 10 to win their first PacWest title in program history. Azusa Pacific's Eileen Stressling won the individual title with a time of 21:14.8 to lead the Cougars to a second-place finish.

For the first time in PacWest history, the women's cross country race finished with a tie in points for first place. The championship race was determined based on head-to-head results between Point Loma and Azusa Pacific. Zita Molnar was the fifth Sea Lion across the finish line, taking 13th place overall to give Point Loma a 3-2 advantage in the head-to-head comparison.

Point Loma was led by Hannah Benoit-Bucher, who took fourth place with a time of 22:17.9 to earn All-PacWest recognition. Marissa Bartello took fifth place ahead of Brianna Bartello in seventh place as all five scoring runners for the Sea Lions were named to the All-PacWest team.

Stressling won the individual title for Azusa Pacific by 49 seconds, while Elise Larson took third place with a time of 22:13.5. The Cougars' first four runners all finished inside the top 10 and each of the five scoring runners earned All-PacWest honors.

Academy of Art took fourth place as a team and was led by Hasna Kaarour, who finished in second place individually with a time of 22:04.1. Biola finished in third place as a team as McKenna Mason led the Eagles with a time of 22:21.0 to take sixth place.

Fresno Pacific took fifth place, and Concordia claimed sixth place. Hawai`i Pacific had a total time of 2:01:10 to finish in seventh place followed by Notre Dame de Namur, Hawai`i Hilo, Dominican, Chaminade and Holy Names.
