Mendez, Khvichava Win Final Runner Of The Week Awards For 2021

IRVINE, Calif. – The final PacWest Runners of the Week for the 2021 season are Dominican’s Julianna Mendez and Academy of Art’s Saba Khvichava, who ran in the Santa Clara Bronco Invitational in the final week before the PacWest Championships.
 
This year’s PacWest Championships will be run on October 23 at Kahuku Golf Course with Biola being the defending champion for the men and Fresno Pacific for the women.

MEN’S RUNNER OF THE WEEK
Saba Khvichava, Academy of Art
So. – Poti, Georgia
Khvichava ran in the 8K men’s invitational at the Bronco Invite and finished with a time of 24:36.9. He finished in 36th place overall. It was the best time by an NCAA Division II runners, including those that ran in the open race.
 
WOMEN’S RUNNER OF THE WEEK
Julianna Mendez, Dominican
Sr. – Windsore, Calif.
Mendez finished in second place in the 6K women’s open at the Bronco Invite out of 121 runners that finished the race. She finished the race in 21:30.4 to help Dominican take eighth place out of 13 teams. This is her third PacWest Runner of the Week award this season.
