Biola and APU's Galinas Earn MXC Awards

The Eagles finished fourth in their own meet for Team of the Week, while Kyle Galinas finishes fourth for Azusa Pacific in the same race for Runner of the Week.

Biola topped three other Pacific West Conference teams and finished fourth overall at the Biola Invitational in their 2025 season debut. In that same race, Azusa Pacific's Kyle Galinas finished in fourth place with an 8K time of 24:20 to earn Runner of the Week honors.

RUNNER OF THE WEEK: Azusa Pacific's Kyle Galinas, Sr., Newark, Calif.                                                            
Azusa Pacific's Kyle Galinas finished fourth in talented field of 165 runners at the Biola Invitational at Ted Craig Regional Park in Fullerton. Galinas was behind a pair of Division I runners, including winner Michael Archie of Grand Canyon (24:11) and Elijah Gentry of Pepperdine (24:12). Galinas ran a person best in the 8K of 24:20, more than 17 seconds better than his previous mark for that distance. His time was 25 seconds better than the next PacWest runner in the field. Galinas was a Third Team All-PacWest runner last season, finishing 15th at the conference meet. 

TEAM OF THE WEEK: Biola Eagles                                                                                                                                
Biola finished in fourth place to open the 2025 season at their own Biola Invitational in Fullerton. The Eagles finished ahead of three other PacWest teams with a tally of 109 points, only behind champion Grand Canyon (36), Pepperdine (62) and NAIA power The Master's (74). Melt von Molendorff was the top Eagle runner in 12th place (24:45) on the 8K course, followed by freshman Grant Miller 18th (25:02). The Eagles edged defending PacWest champion Azusa Pacific (121), seventh-place Concordia (215) and ninth place Westmont (272). 
 
PACWEST NEWS AND NOTES: After Kyle Galinas, Azusa Pacific's next runner at Biola was freshman Aaron Lakeman in 13th place (24:45)...Concordia's top finisher for the second straight week was Spencer Handorf in 25th place of 165 runners (25:14)...Westmont was led by Lucas Satterlee in 40th place (25:46)...Three PacWest teams finished ahead of fellow Division II teams Simon Fraser (sixth place) and CS Monterey Bay (eighth)...Dominican and Jessup competed on Saturday night in Ceres at Stanislaus State's Kim Duyst XC Invitational. In a field loaded with Division I teams (won by UC Davis), Dominican was 15th and Jessup 17th. Robert Dawson was the top Penguin runner with a time of 26:26 on the 8K course. Travis Brown led Jessup at 30:00.

LOOKING AHEAD:  Just two races are on the schedule for next Saturday (Sept. 20). The Master's College will host a race that PacWest teams Fresno Pacific, Azusa Pacific, Vanguard and Westmont will compete at, while Chaminade will host Hawaii Pacific
