The Pacific West Conference sponsors championships in 15 sports. Come 2026-27, that number will grow to 16.
Commissioner
Brad Jones announced today that the PacWest will add
STUNT as its 16
th sport, beginning in 2026-27. The conference currently has six schools that sponsor STUNT, and the PacWest is in communication with potential affiliate members from schools in the west as well.
"Following an extensive and thoughtful evaluation process the PacWest Conference is proud to announce it will sponsor the sport of STUNT beginning the 2026-2027 season,” Jones said. “Its addition reflects both the PacWest and the NCAA’s continued growth, as the sport’s rapid national expansion demonstrates strong demand and momentum."
PacWest schools
Concordia, Westmont, Hawaii Pacific, Vanguard, Fresno Pacific and
Jessup already sponsor STUNT.
"With several member institutions already sponsoring STUNT and others exploring the opportunity, it is a natural fit for our conference,” Jones added. “We are confident STUNT will strengthen our championship offerings and create exciting new opportunities for our student-athletes and institutions.”
STUNT, one of the fastest growing female sports in the country, incorporates the technical and athletic components of cheer, in which teams perform short routines to compete against opponents. In a typical STUNT competition, four quarters are played that include partner stunts, pyramids and tosses, jumps & tumbling, and a team routine.
There are currently 28 NCAA Division II schools across the country that offer the sport of STUNT, with more coming on board in 2027. STUNT was added as a championship sport with the NCAA this past January and they will host the first NCAA Collegiate National Championship in the spring of 2027.
“On behalf of USA Cheer and STUNT, we are thrilled that the PacWest is adding STUNT as a championship sport, “ said
Amy Haney, Director of College and High School STUNT. “This marks a tremendous opportunity for student-athletes, as a dedicated championship platform not only recognizes the hard work they invest every day, but also advances the growth of the sport across the conference. We’re excited to see the PacWest leading the way and expanding meaningful competitive opportunities for its programs.”
