Hawaii Pacific had a solid week, scoring five times in two matches for a win (Chamiande) and a tie (Menlo). Point Loma had the same record, led on offense by Evan Youngflesh who had three goals and an assist in two matches.

TEAM OF THE WEEK: Hawaii Pacific Sharks                                                                                                  
Hawaii Pacific is the Team of the Week after beating rival Chaminade in a non-conference bout (2-0) and tying with former conference member Menlo, 3-3. Ollie Ridelius paced the Sharks with two goals and an assist on the week in just 110 total minutes. Both goals came against Menlo, scoring in the 11^th and 89^th minute to tie the contest just before the final horn went off. His assist in opening minutes of the game got the Sharks on the board first. The win over the rival Silverswords was led by goals from Kelly Takara and Samuel Sykes, and the shutout was split in the goal by Oliver Holt and Cameron Anderson, both with three saves each.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Point Loma’s Evan Youngflesh, F, Fr., 5-11, San Diego                                     
Point Loma’s Evan Youngflesh scored twice in a 4-2 win over Vanguard and added another score during  a 2-2 deadlock with Westmont. The freshman opened the scoring in the seventh minute against Vanguard and added a clinching score in the 64^th minute against the Lions. He took just three shots in the match. Against Westmont, the local San Diego product again opened the scoring in the 12^th minute and assisted on the go-ahead score in the 26^th minute. Youngflesh now has a goal in three straight matches for the Sea Lions, who improved to 3-2-3 on the season.

PACWEST NEWS AND NOTES: Concordia split matches last week, topping Biola (2-1) in a non-league slate while falling to CSU Dominguez Hills (4-2). Bryan Maldonado had two scores against the Eagles, both on penalty kicks…Jessup won their lone match, a 2-1 conquest of Division III UC Santa Cruz…Westmont had two draws, both by 2-2 scores, against Point Loma and CSU San Marcos…The PacWest had two teams in last week's National Soccer Coaches Association West Region poll (Sept. 15). (1) CSU Los Angeles, (2) CSU San Bernardino, (3) Seattle Pacific, (4) Western Washington, (5) Concordia, (6) CSU Monterey Bay, (7) CSU San Marcos, (8) Western Oregon, (9) Northwest Nazarene, (10) Hawaii Hilo. LOOKING AHEAD: PacWest play begins for real this week with seven matches on the docket. On Tuesday, Dominican at Jessup kicks off conference play. On Wednesday, Westmont is at Vanguard. Thursday features Chaminade at Point Loma and Saturday’s slate shows Hawaii Pacific at Point Loma, Dominican is at Westmont, Chaminade visits Biola and Hawaii Hilo goes to Concordia in the Match of the Week.
