Hawai`i Hilo continued their hot early season start with a 1-0 win over UT-Dallas to move to 3-0 on the season. The Vulcans have given up just one goal in those three matches and Keita Goto has been a big part of that. Offensively, Concordia’s Bryan Maldonado had a goal and an assist as the Golden Eagles went 1-0-1 in Colorado.

TEAM OF THE WEEK: Hawai`i Hilo Vulcans                                                                                                
Hawai`i Hilo is the Team of the Week for the second straight time after a home whitewash of University of Texas-Dallas, 1-0. The Vulcans are now a perfect 3-0 heading into a three-match trip to Colorado this week. UHH got the only goal that they would need on a penalty kick off the foot of Keita Goto in the 21^st minute, and then survived eight Dallas shots on the day. It was the first loss of the year for the Comets, who are now 3-1-1 in 2026.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Concordia’s Bryan Maldonado, F, Soph., 5-7, Harbor City, Calif.                    
Concordia’s Bryan Maldonado scored on a penalty kick vs Colorado Christian during a 2-2 tie, on a quick response after CUI had fallen behind 1-0. The sophomore also assisted Andy Jun on what would be the go-ahead score in a 4-1 win over Colorado School of Mines on Saturday, helping the Golden Eagles improve to 2-1-1 on the season.

DEFENDER OF THE WEEK: Hawai`i Hilo’s Keita Goto, MF, Jr., 5-9, Shizuoka, Japan                             
Hawai`i Hilo’s Keita Goto has played a key role in UHH’s three defensive wins, and scored the only goal in last week’s victory over UT-Dallas on a penalty kick to boot. “Keita has been instrumental for us this year, providing an immediate impact in our defensive midfield position,” said Vulcan coach Diego Marroquin. “He was pivotal against Dallas, protecting our backline for 90 minutes while shutting down one of the top midfielders in the Lone Star Conference.” Goto is a transfer from Saginaw Valley State, and played the year previous at the Academy of Art.

PACWEST NEWS AND NOTES: Point Loma traveled to Washington to take on two of the top teams in the west, falling by a single goal to Western Washington (2-1) and Seattle Pacific (1-0). The Falcons, ranked No. 2 nationally in today's United Soccer Coaches D-II poll, scored the only goal of the game in the 84^th minute on a penalty kick…Hawai`i Pacific beat rival Chaminade 3-1 in a non-conference battle…Jessup scored two goals to take the lead and then held on for a 2-1 win over Cal Poly Humboldt..Six matches for PacWest teams this past week resulted in ties....Hawai`i Hilo is ranked fifth in this week's National Soccer Coaches Association West Region poll.
