1.3  GENERAL  PURPOSE

 
The purposes of this Conference shall be:
 
1.3.1          To provide student-­-athletes the opportunity to compete at the highest level of competition in the Conference-­-offered sports commensurate with existing resources;
 
1.3.2          To promote mutual trust and friendly intercollegiate athletics relationships among Conference members;
1.3.3          To promote the development of intercollegiate athletics programs based upon sound academic standards, principles of amateurism, good sportsmanship, and as an integral part of the educational programs of member institutions;
 
1.3.4          To stimulate programs developing leadership, physical fitness, sports participation as a recreational pursuit, and athletics excellence through intercollegiate programs;
1.3.5          To promote and regulate intercollegiate athletic programs and competition among member institutions in the belief that programs of competitive athletics, properly motivated and directed, make a unifying and stimulating contribution to the total educational function of collegiate  institutions;
 
1.3.6          To further promote and provide visibility for Division II athletics within the scope of the Conference and the NCAA;
1.3.7          To legislate, through Bylaws, Operations Code, Sports Regulations and subjects of general concern to the membership;
 
1.3.8          To preserve the athletics records of the Conference.
