3.4 ADVISORY BOARD
3.4.1 The Advisory Board, in consultation with the Commissioner and the Conference office, is responsible for recommendations on Conference policies and matters of Conference importance.
3.4.2 The Advisory Board is comprised of Athletic Directors of each member institution. Each member institution shall have one vote on the Advisory Board. The voting rights for affiliate members are identified in Bylaw 2.7.4.
3.4.3 While the Advisory Board is comprised of Athletic Directors of member institutions, other athletic administrators, such as Senior Woman Administrators, Faculty Athletic Representatives and/or other administrators, may attend & participate in all discussions of the Advisory Board meetings.
3.4.4 Regular Meetings Of The Advisory Board
3.4.4.1 The Conference Advisory Board shall meet in person at least twice each year. Additional conditions regarding regular meetings of the Advisory Board can be found within Article III of the Pacific West Conference Operations Code.
3.4.4.2 The site and date of special meetings shall be determined by the Chair of the Conference Executive Board in consultation with the Commissioner.
3.4.4.3 A simple majority of member institutions of the Conference shall constitute a quorum at official meetings. Approval of any item shall require a simple majority vote of the members present.
3.4.5 Advisory Board Chair And Duties
3.4.5.1 The Athletic Director of the Chair Institution serves as the Chair of the Advisory Board. Such appointment is for a one--year term, beginning July 1 of each year, per the approved rotation schedule in Appendix B of the Pacific West Conference Operations Code.
3.4.5.2 If the Advisory Board Chair is unable to serve, the Athletic Director of the Immediate Past Chair institution shall serve in that position. If the Immediate past chair Athletic Director is unable to serve, then the Athletic Director of the Chair--Elect institution shall serve.
3.4.5.3. The Chair shall preside at the regularly scheduled in--person meetings of the Advisory Board, make recommendations for committees or committee assignments, and exercise powers and perform functions designated by the Executive Board.
3.4.6 Scope Of Responsibility Of The Advisory Board
The Advisory Board bears the ultimate responsibility for the following Conference matters listed below, but not limited to:
a) Subject to Executive Board approval, to initiate or recommend changes to legislation, policy, or activity pertaining to the Conference;
b) Recommend and approve changes to the Pacific West Conference Operations Code;
c) Recommend and approve changes to the Conference Sports Regulations;
d) Recommend committees for designated purposes;
e) Review and approve Conference schedules;
f) Review and approve sites, dates, and formats of Conference Tournaments and Championships;
g) Review and give feedback on the Conference annual budget;
h) Serve as liaisons of various sport and other committees and report on issues;
i) Participation in the implementation of the Conference Strategic Plan;
j) Review and determine Conference vote on NCAA proposed legislation;
k) Review and approve dates, sites, times of Advisory Board meetings;
l) Other items of importance to Conference operations.
3.4.7 Other Committees Reporting To The Advisory Board
3.4.7.1 Each of the following groups shall serve as other committees, reporting to the Advisory Board for the purpose of assisting with the practical administration of the Conference. The Conference shall have administrative liaisons to committees listed below. Appointments, duties and responsibilities of administrative liaisons can be found within Article III of the Pacific West Conference Operations Code.
a) Faculty Athletic Representatives (FAR);
b) Senior Woman Administrators (SWA);
c) Compliance Administrators;
d) Student--Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC);
e) Certified Athletic Trainers (ATC);
f) Sports Information Directors (SID);
g) Sports Committees.
