The newest member of the Pacific West Conference staff brings a wealth of experience packed into a still young career.
Piper Brewster became the Compliance Director and Senior Woman Administrator of the PacWest in the summer of 2023. Brewster stepped into the position vacated by Jessica Harbison Weaver when she replaced retired commissioner Bob Hogue on July 1, 2023.
Brewster came to the PacWest after having served as the Athletic Director for Carondelet High School in Concord, Calif. An all-girls catholic school, Carondelet is the sister school of De La Salle High School. Brewster oversaw 18 athletic programs, 36 total teams and all day-to-day operations of the athletic department.
Prior to that, Brewster spent 11 years at St. Mary’s College of California (Division I) in Moraga, her alma mater. She was the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Compliance, overseeing the area of compliance for all 16 of SMC’s sports. In addition to her compliance duties, Brewster also oversaw five of the Gaels’ athletic programs, monitored all athletic aide and contributed to the Name, Likeness and Image program (NLI) policies while a part of the NAAC Legislation and Governance committee from 2017-2021. She was instrumental in planning the 2021 West Coast Conference (WCC) Cross Country Championships.
Brewster graduated from St. Mary’s in 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. As an undergrad, she worked in the SMC sports information office and interned with the Oakland Raiders. Next, she earned her law degree from John F. Kennedy Law School (2010), where she twice earned the Witkin Award for Academic Excellence. She was an adjunct professor at JFK from 2012 to 2018.
She returned to St. Mary’s, working in the compliance office while pursuing her master’s degree in Business Administration with a Sports Management concentration. Before becoming the Senior Associate AD for Compliance in 2018, Brewster served as the Assistant AD for Compliance and was later promoted to the Associate AD of Compliance for Monitoring and Education. She has also taught classes at St. Mary’s since 2014 in the graduate kinesiology department and in legal aspects of sports, governance and leadership.
