Joe Reinsch joined the PacWest as the Assistant Commissioner in July 2022. He oversees various conference operations and is the director of the PacWest Men's and Women's Basketball Championships and the PacWest Men's and Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships. He also assists in areas of compliance, marketing and branding.
Reinsch comes to the PacWest with over two decades of administrative athletics experience, spending a significant portion of that time as a sports information director. Most recently, he was the sports information director at the University of Texas at Tyler from 2019-21 during the school’s transition into NCAA Division II.
After leaving UT Tyler in 2021, Reinsch returned to California and provided official stats for several athletic programs and professional teams in the region, including USC, UCLA, Long Beach State, and the Los Angeles Rams. He also assisted in the launch and promotion of the Cal Hope Courage Award, which recognized seven student-athletes at California colleges and universities in the spring of 2022 for overcoming the stress, anxiety, and mental trauma associated with personal hardships, injury, or life circumstances.
Reinsch graduated in 2001 from Azusa Pacific with a bachelor’s in communication studies. He was the sports information director at California Baptist from 2001-03 and worked in ticket sales and sponsorships for the Lancaster JetHawks from 2003-06 before returning to his alma mater Azusa Pacific in 2006 as assistant sports information director.
In 2011, Reinsch was promoted to lead Azusa Pacific’s sports information department, as the program transitioned into NCAA Division II membership. He held that position until 2019, and during that time, he led Azusa Pacific's efforts to host 13 NCAA West Regional championships as well as PacWest Championships in basketball, tennis and outdoor track & field. In 2014, his department was voted the PacWest Sports Information Department of the Year.
In February 2022, Reinsch became the interim associate commissioner for the PacWest, and he successfully organized the PacWest Championships in basketball and track & field. He and his wife Roxanna, a former volleyball standout from Azusa Pacific and tax preparer, reside in Long Beach.
