WOMEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Mechaela Hyacinth, Azusa Pacific
So. – Gros Islet, Saint Lucia
Hyacinth posted the best time in the 100-meter dash this season and the first automatic qualifier in the event, finishing with a time of 11.51 seconds. The sophomore also won the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.14 seconds which is a provisional qualifier and the fourth-best time in the nation in that event.
WOMEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Elle Alexander, Azusa Pacific
Sr. – Chatham, Ill.
Alexander posted provisional qualifying marks in the discus and the hammer at the Team 4 Ely Invitational. In the hammer, her mark was 54.25 meters, which was a new personal best in her decorated career. Alexander posted the third-best mark in the discus so far this season with a distance of 51.98 meters for her second provisional qualifier. In the shot put, Alexander took second place at 11.95 meters.
MEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Chase Williams, Biola
Fr. – Lincoln, Calif.
Williams improved in the 100-meter dash and the 200-meter dash for the third meet in a row to start his collegiate career. The freshman won the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.73 seconds, which is the best in the PacWest so far this year. He took third place in the 200-meter dash with a personal best time of 22.23 meters, improving by 8-hundreths of a second from his time two weeks ago.
MEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Brett Lombardi, Fresno Pacific
Jr. – Sacramento, Calif.
Lombardi posted the third-best result in the nation and best in the conference so far this year in the decathlon, recording a provisional qualifying score of 6,636 at the Adams-Klein Combined Events. Lombardi is the PacWest leader in the javelin and the pole vault and he recorded marks of 44.4 meters and 3.95 meters in those events, respectively.
