SAN DIEGO—Defending men’s track and field champion
Fresno Pacific took home their second consecutive team trophy in convincing fashion, winning by over 100 team points.
Fresno Pacific won again in 2026, and it wasn’t close. The Sunbirds had 265 team points, with
Azusa Pacific next with 158.
Biola came in third at 154.
Fresno Pacific’s Chavez Grey was named the men’s Outstanding Field Athlete, winning two throwing events (shot put, discus) while placing second in the hammer.
Fresno Pacific’s Shemar Palmer was selected as the men’s Outstanding Track Athlete for the second year in a row, winning the 200 and 400 meters, and anchoring both winning relay teams. He broke his own PacWest meet record in the 200 meters.
The Sunbirds scored in nearly every way possible to win with 265 points.
Chavez Grey scored 28 total points and
Shemar Palmer added 25 with his wins. Additionally,
Monte Moore (middle distance) and
Micah Vossler (jumps) scored 20 points each for the Sunbirds.
Here are the Saturday winners in the men’s competition
*Fresno Pacific’s Malachi Carrasco won the high jump at 6-8 ¼ (2.04).
*Fresno Pacific’s 4 x 100 relay team by about a minute and half in 40.46.
*Fresno Pacific’s Chavez Grey won the shot put (54-8) by just inch over
Concordia’s Trey Vergenz (54-7).
*Biola’s Grant Miller and
Fresno Pacific’s Monte Moore crossed the finish line in almost the exact time in the 1,500 meters, with Miller getting the nod as both fell at the finish line. Miller's time was 3:50.181 with Morris clocked at 3:50.185.
*FPU’s
Moore bounced back with a victory in the 800 meters (1:52.87) to give the champion Sunbirds more points.
*The men’s 110 hurdles was a fast race, with the top three times all NCAA provisional qualifiers.
Biola’s Joshua Widdows won (13.98), edging meet record holder
Adrian Aguirre of
Dominican (14.08) and
Jonathan Biffle of
Fresno Pacific (14.19).

Widdows followed that up with a win in the 400 hurdles to lay claim to both hurdles titles. Widdows ran 51.83, bettering his best time, which was ranked second in the NCAA.
Rome Johnson of FPU ran 51.83, a NCAA qualifier.
*Shemar Palmer (FPU) repeated as the 400 meter winner with a time of 46.43.
Jalydon Love of
Dominican joined Palmer as a NCAA provisional qualifier in 47.33. Palmer set the meet record last year in 45.77.

Palmer cruised to the 200 title for the third straight year and broke his own record in the process (20.47).

Spencer Handorf of
Concordia broke through to win the 5,000 in 15:02.50, pulling away from
Azusa Paciic’s Kyle Galinas (15:04.50).
