Point Loma and Chaminade continued their red hot pace with two more wins each in conference play last week. The Sea Lions swept two island games, including a 3-0 win over third place Hawaii Hilo. Makenna Joyce led the PLNU defense with 5.67 digs per set for Defender of the Week. 'Swords Letizia Cammillucci had a double-double during their win over Concordia for Player of the Week honors.

Chaminade's Letizia Cammillucci was very instrumental in the Silverswords' comeback win over Concordia on Saturday night in Honolulu. The Italian finished the night with 21 kills, 15 digs and three service aces as the 'Swords held off the Golden Eagle upset attempt. CUH dropped the first set 25-21, and was nearly down 2-0 after a wild 33-31 win in set two. Earlier in the week, the San Jose State transfer had seven kills and five digs in a three-set sweep of Vanguard to give her 28 kills and 21 digs on the week.
DEFENDER OF THE WEEK: Point Loma's Makenna Joyce, S-L, Gr., 5-6, Chico, Calif.
Point Loma's Makenna Joyce was a steady back row influence during the Sea Lions' sweeps of Hawai`i Pacific and Hawai`i Hilo on the islands. The grad senior from St. Mary's had 16 digs against the Sharks and 18 versus Hilo for an average of 5.67 per set. She has been in double figure for digs in all but two matches this year, and is now averaging 4.42 digs per set. This is Joyce's third PacWest Defender of the Week award this year. She came to Point Loma as a two-time All-West Coast Conference selection for the Gaels.

Point Loma, after the Sea Lions swept through the islands with a pair of wins. The Sea Lions, off to their best start in school history, improved to a perfect 17-0 overall and 11-0 in PacWest play. On Thursday on Oahu, Coach
Jonathan Scott's team hit a sizzling .398 in taking out Hawai`i Pacific in three sets.
Abigail Nua led the way offensively with 11 kills and a .423 hitting percentage.
Makenna Joyce had 16 digs, and
Saren Rogers had 10 kills and a .467 accuracy rate. At the Big Island on Saturday against third place Hawai`i Hilo, Point Loma earned the sweep again with a 25-22, 25-20, 25-21 edging of the Vulcans. Nua had 13 kills and Joyce 18 digs.

Kenzie Carpenter averaged 12.28 assists per set, and had 53 in the win over the Sunbirds.
Eliana Sheridan had a double-double in each match and finished the week with 27 kills and 31 digs in seven sets...
Menlo also went 2-0 with victories against Dominican and Academy of Art.
Hannah Torres had 16 kills and hit .406 against the Penguins...
Biola had a huge win over Azusa Pacific on Friday night in La Mirada. The Eagles, who were 2-9 in conference play coming into the match, knocked off the 7-3 Cougars in four sets.
