Four PacWest teams went 2-0 on the first weekend of play, where Dominican and Vanguard landed as the co-Teams of the Week. We had co-Players of the Week as well with Hawai`i Hilo’s Keirstyn Agonias and DUC’s Mahliya Wilson both potting 30-point games. Azusa Pacific’s Rachel Roderick is the Defender of the Week with nine blocks and 19 boards.

PLAYER(s) OF THE WEEK: Domincan’s Mahliya Wilson, G, RS-Fr., 5-8, Chula Vista, Calif.
Dominican’s Mahliya Wilson had a great 2025-26 debut with a 30-point game and other solid numbers to go with it. The redshirt freshman put up the 30 against UC Merced and also had six steals in the contest, and added 16 points in a win over Chico State. She had eight steals for the week, seven rebounds and four assists. The San Diego native shot 46 percent from the field and 77 percent from the free throw line to help lead the Penguins to a pair of impressive wins.
PLAYER(s) OF THE WEEK: Hawai`i Hilo’s Keirstyn Agonias, G, Sr., 5-8, Pahoa, Hawai`i
Hawai`i Hilo’s Keirstyn Agonias was red-hot in the Vulcans’ 98-76 win over Alaska, missing just one shot (14-for-15) on her way to 30 points. The local product from Hilo HS was the MVP of the North Star Invitational, setting a UH Hilo record for field goals in a game and her .928 field goal percentage ranks sixth all-time. Agonias totaled 41 points for the week and shot .750, while playing just 24 minutes each in the two Vulcan victories.
DEFENDER OF THE WEEK: Azusa Pacific’s Rachel Roderick, F, RS-Fr., Sedona, Ariz.
Azusa Pacific’s Rachel Roderick was a force defensively in her first college action for the Cougars. The 6-foot-2 post had 13 rebounds and five blocked shots in a 54-53 upset win over Cal Poly Pomona, who is picked to finish first this year in the CCAA. The Arizona native added four more blocked shots and six rebounds in a narrow loss to CS San Marcos, giving her 19 rebounds and nine blocks for the week.
TEAM(s) OF THE WEEK: Dominican shot out of the 2025-26 gate in impressive fashion with a pair of wins over CCAA schools. The Penguins blasted Chico State 84-63, taking out the team picked to finish third in the conference, and DUC also took down UC Merced 84-70. Dominican had a +35 scoring edge in the two wins.
Vanguard had similar success but against teams from the GNAC. The Lions beat Montana State-Billings 65-54 and Simon Fraser 76-41, beating teams slated to finish fourth and seventh respectively in the GNAC. VU’s margin of victory in those two wins was +46.
PACWEST NEWS AND NOTES: In addition to Vanguard, Dominican and Hawai`I Hilo,
Westmont also went unblemished over the weekend. The Warriors blasted Simon Fraser 92-54 and clipped Montana State Billings 63-38, holding their two opponents to an average of 46 points a game. …
