PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Azusa Pacific's Stina Larsoon, Fr., 5-6, Nora, Sweden
Azusa Pacific's Stina Larssson went undefeated in both singles and doubles for the Cougars and improved to a conference-best 10-1 on the season in singles. The freshman phenom was moved up in the lineup to No. 2 singles against No. 10 Washburn and earned a 6-1, 6-4 win for the Cougars. Then on Saturday, she won in straight sets again, beating the No. 45 player in NCAA Division II
Annabelle Mulick from Stanislaus State, 6-2, 6-2. She also won at No. 2 doubles alongside
Karola Suviste, 6-4, to help lead the Cougars to a 7-0 win.
TEAM OF THE WEEK: Point Loma Sea Lions
Point Loma improved to 6-2 on the season with 6-1 victories over Hawaii Pacific and Academy of Art. That bumped PLNU's win streak to four matches, all against Pacific West Conference teams. The match against the Sharks was much closer than the 6-1 score would indicate. Point Loma won two of the three doubles matches by close scores, and then had to go three sets to win on court two (
Arianna Audelo), court three
(Antonia Barth) and court five (
Emely Valencia). The lone Shark win came on court one in a battle royale with
Evi Roobol edging
Alina Kupfer, 6-2, 4-6, 7-6 (9-7). Against ART U, the Urban Knights are still playing two players down so they had to forfeit two singles matches and a doubles match. In the matches played, Point Loma won in straight sets except on court one where ART U's
Amelija Supulniece topped Kupfer, 6-3, 6-2.
