Fresno Pacific's Chavez Grey established NCAA provisional marks in two throwing events at the West Coast Relays and Academy of Art's Robin Black recorded the third fastest one-lap hurdle time in D2 this season at the Texas Relays.

TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Academy of Art's Robin Black, Sprints/Jumps, Grad., 6-1, Clarendon, Jamaica
Academy of Art's Robin Black ran third-best 400 meter hurdle time in NCAA Division II this season, clocking 51.66 at the Texas Relays, bettering the NCAA standard by nearly one and a half seconds. He also ran the third leg of the 4 x 200 meter relay (1:23.55) that was second-fastest in NCAA DII history and a new ART U program record. The 2023 PacWest Track Athlete of the Year's time of 51.66 in the 400 hurdles is the second fastest in the west region this year.

Fresno Pacific's Chavez Grey had a productive weekend at the West Coast Relays in Fresno, establishing NCAA provisional marks in the shot put and discus. His shot put of 55-3 1/2 (16.85M) was six inches off his career best, and his discus fling of 168-11 (51.48) was a personal best and the third best throw in the Sunbird record books. The sophomore placed fourth in both events. As a freshman in 2024, Grey won the PacWest championship in the shot put and was second in the discus. 

NEWS AND NOTES: Fresno Pacific's Dejan Mileusnic had a throw of 232-4 in the javelin at the West Coast Relays, the third longest throw in D2 thus far. Mileusnic was the 2024 PacWest champ in the event and placed second at the NCAA outdoor championships...Decathlete Lincoln Krog of Azusa Pacific posted a long jump mark of 24-0.75, tops in the PacWest thus far...Fresno Pacific's Bo Olson won the 800 meters at the West Coast Relays with a time of 1:49.99, just off his career best of 1:49.96...FPU's Shemar Palmer scorched the 100 meters in 10.35, a career best and tops in the PacWest this spring. Palmer won the PacWest 200 meter title in 2024, was third at the NCAA Championships in the 200 and second in the 400 meters...Dominic Gonzalez-Shelmire of Azusa Pacific sprinted to a time of 10.51 in the 100, and was part of a Cougar team that clocked 3:10.19 in the 4x400 relay, sixth fastest in the NCAA this year...Dominican's Adrian Aguirre won his third straight race in the 110 hurdles this week in Fresno. Aguirre previously posted the fourth best time in the NCAA at 13.84...ART U's Yacomba Gnacko soared to 48-9 in the triple jump and 22-9 in the long jump at the Texas Relays.

LOOKING AHEAD: PacWest teams will compete this Thursday through Saturday at the Stanford Invitational, the Brutus Hamilton (Cal Berkeley), the Triton Invitational (UC San Diego) and at Pomona Pitzer. 

PACIFIC WEST CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS: The 2025 conference meet will be hosted by Fresno Pacific this year in Fresno, April 25-26. Azusa Pacific will be chasing their ninth consecutive team titles for both men and women.
