SURPRISE, Ariz.--Azusa Pacific's Mark Bohren repeated as the Coach of the Year and
Academy of Art's Amelija Supulniece was a return special award winner to highlight the 2025 Pacific West Women's Tennis All-Conference teams.
APU's Stina Larsson was selected as the Freshman of the Year and
Hawai`i Pacific's Sayda Hernandez is the Newcomer of the Year, announced at tonight's (Wednesday) conference championships tournament banquet. The awards were voted on by the coaches in the conference.
Amelija Supulniece, who was the PacWest Freshman of the Year in 2024, was selected as the league's Player of the Year this spring. The Latvia native went 12-2 this season in singles for the Urban Knights, and was ranked as high at No. 10 nationally by the ITA. All 12 of those wins came in straight sets. She carries a 10-match win streak in singles coming into the PacWest tournament, and was also 11-1 in doubles this year, also on court one. Supulniece is also a First Team All-PacWest selection for the second straight year.
Sayda Hernandez came to Hawai`i Pacific from Division I Western Kentucky. She immediately became a key component of the Sharks squad, running to a 8-1 record on courts one and two in singles, and she was also 8-1 in doubles. The South Carolina native had key wins over many of the top players in the conference. Prior to playing at Western Kentucky, Hernandez played two seasons at Indiana University.
The PacWest Freshman of the Year is Azusa Pacific's
Stina Larsson. The native of Sweden cruised to a 16-2 record on courts one and two in singles for the Cougars, the second most wins in the conference this year. She also went 15-2 in doubles on the top two courts, the most wins in the PacWest. She has been ranked as high as No. 28 nationally in doubles by the ITA.
Head Coach
Mark Bohren is the Coach of the Year after leading Azusa Pacific to another outstanding season. The Cougars are the No. 1 seed in this week's tournament after putting together a 16-0 record against PacWest teams and a 18-2 record overall. APU is currently ranked No. 14 nationally. Bohren, in his 28th year as head coach at APU, is now 452-190 in his career with the APU women. He was also named the 2025 PacWest Men's Coach of the Year.
Supulniece and Larsson were First Team selections in singles and Hernandez was a Second Team choice.
Dominican's Audrey Rafols was chosen by the coaches to the First Team, earning her fourth All-PacWest award. Same for
Point Loma's Arianna Audelo, a First Team pick and fourth time honoree.
Biola's Isabella Chavarria, just a sophomore, is a First Team selection, as is
Azusa Pacific's Julia Jordan.
Concordia's Sophie Rachor, a Second Team pick this year, earned her third All-PacWest honor and Third Team selection Quin Brady, a sophomore from Point Loma, is an honoree for the second time.
