The Pacific West Conference women's cross country record book dates back to 1993, when the league's footprint looked very different than it does now.
In fact,
Seattle Pacific (now of the GNAC) won the first PacWest women's team title that year and
Liane Sullivan of
Portland State (now Division I Big Sky Conference) was the PacWest Championship race winner.
Fast forward to 2024, where
Biola won its third straight women's cross country title. Head coach
Sean Henning was named Coach of the Year for the third consecutive time.
Azusa Pacific's Jessica Kampman Walczak won the individual title, and was later voted by the conference's coaches as the PacWest Runner of the Year AND the PacWest Newcomer of the Year. The Dordt transfer is just the fourth person in PacWest history to win both awards--
Rachel Ross (Seattle Pacific, 1998),
Frida Aspnaes (2010) and
Fiona McKenna (2013) of
Hawai`i Pacific were the others.
Two outstanding graduated PacWest runners made their way on to a very impressive short list.
Biola's Lynette Ruiz and
Concordia's Porshe Eismann were All-PacWest honorees for the fourth time. Since 1993, only ten runners can claim that distinction, the last being
Audrey Rosencrans of
Academy of Art (2022).
